Does a Chemical Peel Slow the Aging Process?
In skin care, doctors use chemical peeling as a procedure to remove sun damaged, pigmented and wrinkled skin by peeling it with chemicals. As the old skin peels off, new skin appears that is much fresher looking.
However, chemical peeling does not slow the aging process, or prevent it. Once you experience the procedure, it is up to you to take better care of your skin, in addition to protecting it from the sun and harsh environmental elements.
The process itself does not affect the internal aging of the skin.
Skin Care with Chemical Peeling
Chemical peeling will remove mild skin wrinkles; sun damaged spots, and pigmentation. It also will remove the leathery appearance of the skin. A chemical peel will help remove some facial scars, and in some cases, a mild chemical peeling is used to treat acne.
At Pretty Faces Atlanta, we use several types of chemical peels.
You can visualize the process like this: the deeper your skin problem, the deeper peel may be used. So for surface aberrations, a mild peel, and for deeper scars a deep peel.
We use Trichloracetic Acid (TCA) peels in varying percentages, and we also use Glycolic Acid peels.
VI Peel®, is our deepest, most aggressive chemical peel. This painless, chemical peel will remove layers of dry, dead skin to unveil your most youthful glow.
Why choose a VI Peel? You can improve your skin’s tone and texture with just one treatment. VI Peel lifts scars and sun damage, boost collagen regeneration to tackle fine lines and wrinkles, and treats a number of skin conditions such as acne, melasma, and PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation) to name a few.
